Verifying Flowmeter Accuracy
Many factors can cause a flowmeter to lose calibration, including:
• build-up of deposits, minerals, oils, and solvents;
• wearing, breakage, or failure of internal mechanical parts;
• damaging impact;
• improper installation; and
• modified piping configurations.
A flowmeter calibration, usually carried out by a qualified technician, adjusts the output of the meter to bring it back to a value within the specified accuracy tolerance.
